The most useful conference plan starts with a project you already know: the interview that took too long to organize, the color match that never quite settled, or the graphic package that gets rebuilt for every client. Bring that problem with you. It gives every session a purpose.

Post|Production World New York[3](https://blog.fmctraining.com/fmc-forward/plan-your-two-days-ppw-new-york-2026#source-3) returns to the Javits Center on October 20–21, 2026. Here is how I would turn the program into a practical learning plan for editors, motion designers, producers, and the people who move between those roles.

## Start with one change you want to make

![Attendees taking notes and working on laptops during a Post|Production World New York 2025 session.](https://blog.fmctraining.com/hs-fs/hubfs/PPWNY26%20Blog%20Images/ppwny26-plan-hero-1600.jpeg?width=1600&height=1067&name=ppwny26-plan-hero-1600.jpeg)

Write a sentence before you open the schedule: “After the conference, I want to be able to \_\_\_ on my next \_\_\_ project.” Keep it specific enough to test. “Improve at post” is difficult to act on. “Build a reusable title package for our monthly interviews” gives you something to bring back to the team.

### The workflow case

**50.5%** of respondents to NCS’s 2026 industry sentiment survey selected rebuilding workflows as a technology priority. The online survey collected responses from 309 self-selected NCS readers in November–December 2025; it is not representative of the entire broadcast industry. Read the survey and methodology[4](https://blog.fmctraining.com/fmc-forward/plan-your-two-days-ppw-new-york-2026#source-4).

That finding is useful context for a practical decision: choose training that addresses a recurring obstacle. Conference attendance alone does not establish a return on investment. A repeatable improvement on a real project gives you something you can evaluate.

## Choose an anchor, then cross into a related subject

The conference program[3](https://blog.fmctraining.com/fmc-forward/plan-your-two-days-ppw-new-york-2026#source-3) spans six topic areas, from post and motion graphics to production, AI, immersive media, creator content, and corporate video. These are subject tracks, not six simultaneous rooms. Pick a main area, then add an adjacent topic that could improve the work around it.

## For editors: connect speed, color, and finishing

Build your shortlist around Jeff Greenberg’s Premiere tips session, Luisa Winters’s color-correction class, and Greenberg’s DaVinci Resolve editing and AI session. They give you three different places to examine a familiar workflow: getting to a useful cut, making images consistent, and finishing across tools.

Bring one question for each stage. Which repetitive action should become a shortcut? Where does your color workflow become inconsistent? What needs to survive when a project moves between applications? Take notes about the conditions that make a technique useful, including software version and media type.

These sessions appear in the published program grid[2](https://blog.fmctraining.com/fmc-forward/plan-your-two-days-ppw-new-york-2026#source-2); check the live session listings[1](https://blog.fmctraining.com/fmc-forward/plan-your-two-days-ppw-new-york-2026#source-1) before choosing times.

## For motion designers: focus on the handoff

Eran Stern’s Cinema 4D and After Effects session offers a starting point for designers working across 3D and compositing. His vectors and shape-layers class is another option if your immediate goal is stronger work inside After Effects. Both topics appear in the official program materials.

Define the handoff you need to improve: editable elements, consistent color, manageable render times, or revisions that do not force a complete rebuild. During a demonstration, write down what remains editable and what gets baked into the output. That distinction matters when the client changes direction.

Use the current NAB program[1](https://blog.fmctraining.com/fmc-forward/plan-your-two-days-ppw-new-york-2026#source-1) to review session availability and descriptions. Sponsor-session announcements can change, so this guide does not assume a fixed three-session sequence.

## For producers: strengthen what happens around the edit

Production decisions shape the material that reaches post. Consider Rich Harrington’s multi-camera and project-management sessions, Rachel Longman’s documentary and location-scouting sessions, or Luisa Winters’s class on reusable branded templates. These options are listed in the published program grid.

Choose according to the problem: coverage and coordination, fewer surprises on location, clearer responsibilities, or more consistent recurring deliverables. Ask what should be decided before the shoot and what documentation the editor needs afterward.

If your next project involves immersive media, add Gary Adcock’s sessions to your shortlist. Start with the intended viewing experience and delivery requirements before choosing equipment or a production approach.

## For AI exploration: arrive with a test

Jeff Greenberg’s local-AI and reliability-scorecard sessions, Luisa Winters’s AI editing session, and Gary Adcock’s generative-cinema session offer several entry points. Their titles are listed in the published program grid. Pick the question that fits your work: where media is processed, whether the output holds up, how the timeline changes, or how production choices are affected.

Write down a test you can repeat at home using approved material. Measure the complete task, including setup and corrections. A quick result is useful only if it remains useful when you review it and hand it to someone else.

## Leave space between learning and adopting

### A simple two-day planning card

- **One anchor:** the recurring task you want to improve.
- **One adjacent skill:** a production, motion, or AI topic that supports it.
- **One question per session:** tied to an actual project constraint.
- **One follow-up test:** a small exercise to complete after the event.

When two sessions overlap, choose the one closest to your current project and save the other topic for a follow-up question or future training. Allow time to consolidate notes. A short summary in your own words is easier to use later than a page of disconnected menu commands.

Before leaving a session, record the technique, the situation where you would use it, and the first thing you need to verify. After the event, compare your existing method with the new one on equivalent material. Record elapsed time, correction work, and whether the result meets the same delivery requirements.

## Plan classroom time and show-floor time separately

The P|PW Conference Pass includes conference sessions on **October 20–21** and NAB Show New York show-floor exhibitors and theaters on **October 21–22**, according to NAB’s conference page[1](https://blog.fmctraining.com/fmc-forward/plan-your-two-days-ppw-new-york-2026#source-1). If you plan to use both show-floor days, account for October 22 in your travel schedule. Consult current passes and pricing[5](https://blog.fmctraining.com/fmc-forward/plan-your-two-days-ppw-new-york-2026#source-5) for purchase details.

Use the show floor to investigate the questions your classes raise. Ask for a demonstration with requirements similar to your own, and take notes on compatibility, costs, and the steps needed to repeat the result. That connects the conference to a decision you can make when you return.
